26 Feb Mercury signs up for Jane Tomlinson 10k to raise money for its Charity of the Year in 2010
Mercury Design and Marketing has signed up for Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k Run for All.
The event takes place on May 23, 2010, and team members are hoping to raise £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care’s East Yorkshire Nursing Appeal – Mercury’s Charity of the Year for 2010.
Kelly Todd, founding director of Mercury, said: “I am so happy to be raising funds for this vital cause. Cancer affects everyone’s lives in one way or another.
“Whether you do it in memory of a close family member, a friend, colleague or someone else that you know who has been affected by cancer, it’s worth making a donation to this charity and I hope people will dig deep to help us raise £2,000 which will only make a small dent in the appeal’s £300,000 target.
“I would also be delighted to welcome other friends and clients of Mercury to join our team and run through Hull at Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All. I think it will be a truly moving day.”
Last year, Marie Curie nurses provided more than 17,000 hours of nursing care in East Yorkshire for more than 280 terminally ill people. Marie Curie Cancer Care needs to raise £300,000 to continue to provide this vital service, which enables people to make the decision to die with dignity in their own home. Research shows that approximately 70% of people would rather die at home if they had a terminal illness.
